Syringa pekinensis ‘Morton’

Selected from the collections of the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Illinois, for its graceful upright-rounded habit, fragrant white flowers in mid- to late June, ornamental, cinnamon-colored exfoliating bark, and clean foliage through the growing season. The parent tree, measuring 40' in height with a 35' spread, originated from seed collected in Gansu Province, People’s Republic of China, by Joseph Rock during the 1920s.
