Johnson's Nursery, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, selected this plant for its densely branched, upright form; good growth rate; and attractive, red-tinted new foliage. This native shrub produces handsome white flowers in mid- to late May, followed by clusters of ornamental bright red fruit that persist from late fall through early winter. The foliage turns a brilliant red in fall. This selection has been verified by Dr. Edward R. Hasselkus of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, as a true V. trilobum, not a hybrid — unlike many other cultivars in the trade. Matures 8' to 10' in height with a 6' to 8' spread. Needs cross-pollination for best fruit production. Zones 2-7.
