Summer Stars™ is a densely branched, deciduous shrub selected from the collections of the Morton Arboretum for its compact habit, display of lemon-yellow flowers in the summer, and broad adaptability. Small honeysuckle-like flowers blanket the plant from late June to early July in northern Illinois (USDA Zone 5). The dark green foliage transforms into a brilliant mass of orange and red hues during fall. Summer Stars™ grows equally well in full sun to partial shade, moist to dry soils, and acid to alkaline conditions. One of the few shrubs adaptable to dry alkaline shade! Diervilla is native to North America. Summer Stars™ is an excellent carefree landscape plant for mass plantings or low hedges. Mature plants obtain a size of 3' tall by 4' wide. Zones 4-8.
